Gospel Goes Classical Gala Concert Orlando Takes A Stand Against Gun Violence
BY GWEN COVINGTON, Entertainment Galore
ORLANDO/WINTER PARK – The stage is set and in just a few weeks on Saturday, June 9, 2018, the red carpet rolls out at 5pm, the curtain call will be announced, and live streaming will begin promptly at 7:30pm for Gospel Goes Classical Gala Concert Orlando. This dazzling black tie, first-class affair takes place at the gorgeous Calvary Assembly Church, 1199 Clay Street in Winter Park; and it has been designed to not only entertain and inspire, but provides another opportunity to change lives as you support efforts against gun violence. Event Executive Producer Steve Lane of Digital 1 Media Services, and former WBC/IBO World Champion Boxer Pinklon Thomas, have taken courageous action by using this platform to share their passionate concerns for communities that are battling gun violence at an alarming growth. A portion of Gospel Goes Classical proceeds are earmarked for Central Florida Urban League Cease-Fire Initiative, a program that is working with residents to determine the best viable solutions to reduce gun violence, while simultaneously implementing strategies to change the mindsets of at-risk youth residing in lower socio-economic communities. Lane continues to appeal to businesses and organizations to sponsor at-risk youth to experience this preeminent concert featuring legacy artists and world changers Bebe Winans and Denyce Graves. Lane says that this is an excellent fine arts opportunity to energize today's next generation to lead more productive-driven, instead of trouble-driven lives. For one hour and a half, the entire audience will be treated to glorious songs by Billboard-hit, multi-Grammy Award-winning Gospel artist Winans and Mezzo Soprano acclaimed operatic singer Graves, with an unbeatable mixture of Gospel, Opera, Classical Jazz, and R&B music by the inimitable Bella Musica Orchestra of Florida directed by Dr. Glenn Caldwell. Special guest artists Antioch Baptist Church Mass Choir, along with breakout artist Monique Steele and band, are excited about the outreaching performances they have prepared for this inaugural USA return of the Gospel Goes Classical brand after its 5-year successful tenure in South Africa. Orlando's very own Star 94.5FM Glory of Gospel radio host, Pastor Riva Tims of Majestic Life Church, is Master of Ceremonies for this event-for-a-cause. You will join Urban League CEO Glenton Gilzean, Opera Orlando Executive/Artistic Director Gabriel Preisser, Central Florida Community Arts, other celebrities, reputable guests, a host of local dignitaries and community leaders, with making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth. Red carpet activities start at 5:00pm with the excellent sounds of FORZA brass ensemble setting the ambiance of the evening.
