ORLANDO - The Chi Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. celebrates 60 years of service in the Orlando, community. The birth of the Chapter began in 1960 when Mr. Cecil Boston, former principal of Jones High School, invited Judge Lawson E. Thomas as the commencement speaker for that year’s graduating class. Principal Boston also invited a group of Omega Men to a reception in honor of the occasion, and from that meeting brothers C.J. Manigault, William V. Nixon, Robert L. Howard, Willie B. Pete, Paul K. Tisdale, Ernest Niblack, Johnny L. Toney, Robert W. Hunt, Willie G. Holt, and G.H. Jones met at Murchison Terrace Housing Office for several months to organize and obtain a charter.In March of 1961 at Shiloh Baptist Church, through the perseverance of these Omega Men, Chi Tau Chapter was formed, and on January 8, 1962, Chi Tau Chapter received its charter from the international office of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. 

Chi Tau Chapter has been serving and changing lives in Central Florida for over 60 years. Today, there are more than 150 active members in the chapter who are demonstrating a commitment to serve the Greater Orlando area. Additionally, Chi Tau Chapter has awarded more than a million dollars in academic scholarships to selected high school seniors to aid in their secondaryeducation endeavors. Annually during the Thanksgiving holidays, the chapter distributes  turkeysand all the “fixinsas part of its “20 Pearl Turkey Give-Away” to underserved families. And for several years during Christmas, the chapter’s Omega Claus initiative awardsbicyclesto twenty elementary school students who have shown improvement in their academics and classroom etiquette 

On Saturday, January 8, 2022, the Men of Chi Tau Chapter will celebrate their 60th anniversary at Disney’s Epcot LivingSeas Salonwith a buffet dinner and dessert at the Italy Isola. On Sunday, January 9th, the chapter we will have church services at Shiloh Baptist Church during the 9:30 worship service. Dr. Richard Williams current Basileus of Chi Tau Chapter emphatically stated, “ChiTau is soliciting your support through the purchase of a business, or individual advertisement to be featured in our souvenir booklet.
