ORLANDO - “Tackle Your Talent” Scholarship Program – The Kenard Lang Foundation awarded twelve (12) $1,000.00 scholarships to twelve (12) localCentralFlorida high-school seniors to assist with their college expenses.On July23, 2021, 7:00pm, a Zoom Presentation was held to introduce the recipients, families to each other and the Kenard Lang Foundation Board Members.Kenard Lang shared the mission, history and other information in reference to the Kenard Lang Foundation. On July 24, 2021, 10:00am, a Drive-Thru was held at New Covenant Baptist Church, Orlando, Florida. During the Drive-Thru, the recipients received their Promissory Letter, gift items and a group collage of their photo to commemorate the event. The recipients and family members were afforded the opportunity to take photos with Kenard Lang next to the KLF Mission statement.  Thank you to everyone for your support. The program was funded by“The 12th Man”, NFL Foundation Grant and the community. CDC Guidelines were followed during the Drive-Thru.   

“Back-to-School Fair” – The Back-to-School Fair” (school supplies) was held on July 29, 2021, 7:00am, Target Super Store, Winter Garden Village, Winter Garden, Florida. Target partnered with the Kenard Lang Foundation to assist students/families prepare for a successful start of the school-year. Target provided breakfast for the students/families and volunteers. The Social Worker (OCPS) is a vital part of the program. The Social Worker identifies and makes contact with the most needy students/families to inform them f the date, time and location of the Back-to-School Fair. Twenty-eight (28) students/families shopped for school supplies. A staff member of the Pine Hills Community Center shopped for school supplies for the Pre-K students.On September 17, 2021, school supplies were provided to Hiawassee Elementary School and Robinswood Middle School. The goal of providing school supplies is to equip each student with their own “Treasure Chest of tools to meet classroom success on a daily basis. Big thank you to Target Super Store and the volunteers. The program was funded by NFL Foundation Grant and the community (Grand Slam Fundraiser).CDC Guidelines followed during the “Back-to-School Fair”.   

“Thanksgiving Baskets Give-Away” – This (2021) brought about a change of preparation, packing and distribution of the Thanksgiving Baskets. The week of November 15-19, 2021, the Kenard Lang Foundation prepared eighty (80) Thanksgiving Baskets for needy families in the Orlando area. Through a school-wide Food Drive, Robinswood Middle School donated non-perishable items to fill sixty-seven (67) baskets. The Youth Groups (EMBODI, Delta Gems, Delta Academy) of Orlando Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. donated non-perishable items to fill thirteen (13) baskets. Big Thank You to Mrs. Verna Bickerstaff and Mrs. Nicole Jefferson (Principal) for your continued support of the Kenard Lang Foundation.Big Thank you to the Kappa League of Orlando Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for your generous donation of non-perishables and your continued support of the Kenard Lang Foundation.Additional support from Publix (gift cards) and Kenard Lang Foundation Board Members. CDC Guidelines followed during packing and distribution of the Thanksgiving Baskets.  

“Caring and Sharing” – The Caring and Sharing event was held at Advent Health Hospital on December 8, 2021. The Kenard Lang Foundation partnered with BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation to present twenty (20) Holiday Gift Bags to the Pediatric Oncology patients. Kenard Lang Foundation Board Members met Mrs. Terri Jones (President, BASE Camp) at Advent Health Hospital to present the Holiday Gift bags to staff members of Advent Health. Usually, the Kenard Lang Foundation Board Members would deliver the Holiday Gifts to the patients/families, and offer words of encouragement and hope while they are fighting cancer. The event was funded by the NFL Foundation Grant. CDC Guidelines were followed while delivering the Holiday Gift Bags.   

“Shop with KenardThe “Shop with Kenard” event was held on December 8, 2021, 6:00pm, at the Boys and Girls Clubs, Pine Hills. The shopping experience was different this year, yet enjoyable and rewarding. Kenard Lang addressed the children in reference to school success, importance of education, Mathematics, respect for themselves/others and giving back to the community. Twenty-five (25) children were given a Target Gift Card in the amount of $75.00 to purchase holiday gifts for themselves/family members. Parents were required to attend. Photos were taken next to the Kenard Lang Foundation Banner. Kenard Lang took great pride in sharing that he also attended the same Boys and Girls Clubs, Pine Hills. The event was funded by the NFL Foundation Grant and the community (Grand Slam Fundraiser). CDC Guidelines followed during the distribution of the Gift Cards and while photos were taken of the children/parents.
